Reflections on Our Inauguration

Reflections on Our Inauguration

If I were in any other industry, I wouldn't begin a blog discussing the inauguration of new laboratory facilities with some very unnewsworthy observations. But this isn't any other industry. And in ours, completing a complex project on time and on budget should never be taken for granted.

As I reflect on how far we've come as a company, I'm struck by how often our team manages to make formidable challenges look easy. That's not normal in our industry, but it's actually perfectly normal for us. And so it should come as no surprise that our celebration of an expansion — which was completed ahead of schedule and on-budget — had an equally impressive event that also went off without a hitch.

Who, What, and When

On June 10th, we were thrilled to welcome roughly 150 guests to our new facilities, including current and former clients, local business executives, business partners, and visiting dignitaries. We were especially honored to host:

  • Christopher Skeete, Minister for the Economy and Minister Responsible for the Laval Region
  • Christine Poirier, member of the Executive Committee and the Laval City Council
  • Roberto Bellini, a former long-term client, who was kind enough to talk to our guests about his experiences working with us

I was also delighted to see all three Corealis founders — Yves Roy, Yves Mouget, and Patrick Gosselin — giving back-to-back tours. Again, in very Corealis fashion, they had it timed perfectly so they could each give ten attendees a personal tour in 12 minutes flat...and then start the process all over again!

Where and Why

We know we're fortunate to be located in a supportive scientific community where we've been able to form exceptionally close long-term partnerships and see each other thrive. But it's always wonderful to hear our guests from larger markets in Boston or the Bay area recognize it as well.

Many of our guests remarked on how different our new laboratory space is from what they're used to. Our building is glass, so the spacious laboratories are full of natural light. We're also surrounded by nature, so our technicians enjoy a birds-eye view of our woodlands as they go about their work. I was incredibly honored to hear many guests — even those who had washed their hands of this type of work — express that our facilities inspired them to think about returning to the lab.

Obviously, events like these are also a great way for us to introduce ourselves to new potential clients. But I was delighted to reconnect with a former client that I have reason to believe we'll be working with again in the near future.

How the Event Came Together

A lot of planning went into this event, and I'm incredibly grateful to MERCURE Conseil, our public relations firm, and to Anie Perrault for serving as our host.

To say that scientists appreciate attention to detail is an understatement, so take it from me — theirs was impeccable. From the food to the music and the lighting, I couldn't imagine a more fitting celebration of this important milestone.

They made it look easy. And we, of all people, understand the extraordinary level of skill that goes into making an event like this look easy.

Interested in Visiting Our New Drug Development Facilities?

With BIO the week before our inauguration, I imagine that many people who might have wished to attend weren't able to.

If you'd like a tour of your own, we can still make that happen!
